PEMERIKSAAN LENGKAP KEBIASAAN BURUK MENGISAP IBU JARI (THUMB SUCKING) (LAPORAN KASUS)

Menghisap ibu jari merupakan kebiasaan yang menyenangkan bagi anak. Kebiasaan tersebut apabila berlangsung dalam jangka panjang dapat menyebabkan terjadinya maloklusi serta membutuhkan pengobatan yang mahal untuk memperbaikinya. Bad oral habit wajar terjadi pada usia kurang dari enam tahun, namun dapat berlanjut pada usia lebih dari enam tahun yang dapat menyebabkan kelainan pada struktur dento-fasial. Laporan kasus seorang anak umur 9 tahun 6 bulan mempunyai kebiasaan mengisap ibu jari (thumb sucking) sejak kecil dan kebiasaan tersebut berlanjut sampai sekarang. Anak tersebut tidak mempunyai riwayat penyakit sistemik. Pemeriksaan intra oral gigi anterior rahang atas terlihat proklinasi. Penanganan yang dilakukan pada anak tersebut adalah dilakukannya pemeriksaan lengkap diikuti dengan pemakaian alat orto trainer. Kesimpulan; pemeriksaan lengkap pada kasus kebiasaan buruk (bad oral habit) menghisap ibu jari perlu dilakukan, mengingat akibat yang dapat ditimbulkannya. Pemeriksaan lengkap perlu dilakukan, untuk melihat sejauh mana nantinya hasil perawatan yang kita lakukan.Referensi
