Orthodontic appliances are tools which are used to move the teeth. For example, fixed appliance which covers nickel titanium closed coil spring dan elastic chain. There are various factors which are able to change the force of orthodontic appliances.They are temperature, pH, and time. The purpose of this research is to find out the influence of temperature toward the force change in nickel titanium closed coil spring and elastic chain and the method is an experimental research with 36 research samples. The samples are being attached on an acrylic board and soaked based on different temperatures. Force is measured with force gauge NK-500. After that, the researcher will take a note of the force measured within 0 hour, 24 hours, 72 hours, 168 hours and 240 hours, the result of this research is By using statistical examination of Kruskal Wallis (α= 0,05), the temperature changing in each treatment which is set based on different length of time shows that there is a reduction of force both in elastic chain and nickel titanium closed coil spring. In line with the research result, the reduction force in nickel titanium closed coil spring is higher than in elastic chain and the conclusion is temperature change can alter the force in nickel titanium closed coil spring and elastic chain
