PERBEDAAN JUMLAH KOLONI BAKTERI ASAM LAKTAT PADA KEADAAN SEHAT DENGAN PERIODONTITIS KRONIS

Abstract


Pendahuluan: Bakteri Asam Laktat (BAL) merupakan salah satu flora normal yang terdapat di dalam rongga mulut. Keberadaan BAL di rongga mulut sangat penting untuk menjaga kesehatan oral dan mencegah terjadinya penyakit periodontal. Kemampuan BAL antara lain menghasilkan antimikroba, mengatur respons imun host sehingga dapat menghalangi pertumbuhan bakteri patogen penyebab penyakit periodontal. Salah satu penyakit peridodontal adalah periodontitis kronis. Hal ini mendorong perlunya penelitian mengenai BAL yang terdapat di dalam rongga mulut sebagai alternatif terapi periodontitis kronis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui perbedaan jumlah BAL pada keadaan sehat dengan periodontitis kronis. Metode: Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian cross sectional comparative, kelompok sehat terdiri dari subyek dengan gingiva sehat sedangkan kelompok periodontitis kronis terdiri dari subyek yang menderita periodontitis kronis. Perbedaan jumlah koloni BAL kelompok sehat dengan kelompok periodontitis kronis dianalisis dengan Independent Sample T Test. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan (p< 0,05) pada jumlah koloni bakteri asam laktat antara kelompok sehat dengan kelompok periodontitis kronis. Simpulan: Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini bahwa BAL yang merupakan flora normal dalam rongga mulut dapat menjaga kesehatan gigi dan mulut.
